Description:	The University of Tennessee Department of Pediatrics and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center are seeking pediatric cardiac intensivists to join their Cardiac Institute: Center of Excellence. The ideal candidate will be board certified or board eligible in pediatric cardiology and/or pediatric critical care. Expertise in the post-op management of patients with congenital heart disease is essential. The Cardiac Institute at Le Bonheur consists of 8 pediatric cardiologists, 1 pediatric intensivist, 2 cardiothoracic surgeons, 6 pediatric cardiology fellows and a staff of cardiac nurses, nurse specialists and nurse practitioners. Immediate post-operative patients are cared for in a new 5-bed cardiovascular intensive care. Research facilities include a Pediatric Clinical Research Center, a Children’s Foundation Research Center. Opportunities are also available for collaborative research through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. On-going NIH funded studies on hypertension and myocarditis are in progress, and the facilities are equipped to study cardiomyocyte physiology and molecular cardiology. Memphis is located in southwest Tennessee on the Mississippi River and has a population of slightly over one million in the metropolitan area. Downtown renovations have led to tremendous development that is resulting in a wealth of new restaurants and entertainment spots, as well as the addition of new housing communities along the river.
